Message from Marrick's Landing 2008
Greetings
from Marrick’s Landing,
From Marian & Rick
It is with mixed
feelings that we
are sending you this letter. We have
sold Marrick’s Landing to Terry, Lisa Thomas and their son,
Porter.
We listed our property in the early summer,
anticipating that it would be a few years before we would be writing
this
letter to you. We are going to miss you
and our life at Marrick’s Landing but are also excited about the new
direction
that we are taking.
Although
the process happened much
faster than any of us anticipated, we are all very excited about the
transition. We feel that Terry and Lisa
have the same vision that we do for the future of Marrick’s Landing –
and for
that we are very happy. We have enjoyed
the relationships that we have forged with you and thank you for your
support
in all that we have done here. We wish
you all the best and trust that your continuing stays at Marrick’s
Landing will
be full of wonderful memories.
From Lisa & Terry
We are thrilled to be entering our
first year here at Marrick’s Landing. We
know Porter is excited too and looking forward to
meeting some new
playmates. We have no plans to make
any major changes to the Resort. We
want to ensure you that we are continuing to be Pet Friendly because we
believe
Pets are
Family Too!
Over the next year
you will notice
a few enhancements to the property and we are looking forward to the
new Meet
and Greet
Hot Dog BBQ with the Monday night Bon Fire. If you
have any questions or concerns, please contact us. We are looking
forward to meeting you all and extending a warm
welcome from Marrick’s Landing.
Pet Policy
We
are
not changing our policy on pets. We love animals ( no dog
right now , but we have 4 cats)
We
have four requests to ensure you and other other guests will enjoy
their stay.
1.
You must clean up after your pet.
2.
Your pet must be on a leash.
3.
Your pet must be in a kennel if you have to leave them in the
cottage alone.
4.
You must provide proof of a flea treatment.
We
thank you in advance and can not wait to meet you and your pets.
Winter in the
Kawarthas
Winter
continues to be a beautiful
season here in the
Kawarthas. Activities in the area
include a huge skating rink – on the bay by Owl Cottage, weather
permitting. Also in the area we have over
50 kms of
cross-country ski trails. We can provide a ski pass and hot chocolate
for your
outing. Bring your own or we can
arrange skis and boots for you. We can
also arrange for cross-country ski lessons with a qualified instructor. We have snowshoes that you can borrow to hike
the trails or you
can walk to the Burleigh Falls lock on country roads.
Mallard and Blue Heron Cottages now boast personal
outdoor hot tubs
for your pleasure in the winter months. Relax
in front of the gas fireplace and listen to your
choice of music on
the Galaxy satellite stations. If you
are interested in some pampering, we can arrange a day for you at a
nearby
spa. Check the “Winter” page on our Web
site for details.
New Fishing
Regulations
You
may have heard that the Ministry
of Natural Resources
(MNR) have been planning for changes to the regulations. There are a few
changes to our fishing regulations this year. The biggest change for
our guests will be for pickerel/walleye. With a sport licence the limit
is now 4 (instead of 6) with only one fish being larger that 18.1
inches. A conservation licence limit is still 2 however with only one
being larger that 18.1 inches Please
check our web site (Home page, Fishing
Season
link) for a direct link to
the MNR
web site.
Again
this year we are going to be an official Weigh / Recording station
for the
Buckhorn District Tourist Association’s Big Fish Contest. Enter
your catches with us and you could win
a plaque for the biggest Walleye (Pickerel), Muskie, Largemouth Bass,
Small
mouth Bass, Crappie, Perch or Carp. Contest
details will be available in early May
Thanks
to our Returning Guests
After
five years of staying with us, we will give you a $50.00
gift certificate to use for your next
visit. Up to this point, we have
thanked 55 of you in this manner and appreciate your loyalty. We
look forward to recognizing more of our
customers this coming year and in the years to come. Our Comment
Cards and chats with our guests continue
to be a
great source of ideas for improvements and suggestions. We are
always looking for ways to make your
stay an enjoyable and memorable one. Please
take the time to fill out our cards or send
us an e-mail.
We
are looking forward to meeting you and your family soon.
